
Hilary Boerger is a second-year student at George Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School. She graduated from Thomas Edison University with a B.A. in History and worked as paralegal for three years prior to law school. Hilary interned for The Honorable Lawrence VanDyke on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit over the summer.

Parker Bowman is a candidate member of the National Security Law Journal. Parker is a second year day student. Parker graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.A. in political science in 2020. Parker is also a member of the Federalist Society. Parker worked for Bell, Hess & Van Zant, PLC this past summer in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. His legal interests include civil litigation and administrative law.

Alex Buttram is a second-year student at Scalia Law. Originally from Southwest Missouri, Alex attended the University of Oklahoma on a National Merit Scholarship, graduating with a dual-major B.A. in Political Science and Communication in 2017. At OU, Alex served as a founding member of the University’s undergraduate mock trial team and of the American Enterprise Institute’s executive council program. Following graduation, he spent four years in commercial real estate brokerage. Most recently, Alex spent the summer interning with his home state’s public defender system.

James Caruso is a second-year day student from Sacramento, California. He earned a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, and went on to serve as a paralegal in the US Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During his time on Active Duty, James worked as an office supervisor in military justice and deployed as an operational legal clerk for a NATO mission in Northeastern Europe.

Margaret Cochrane is a second-year law student, originally from Oregon. She graduated from Portland State University with a B.A. in Political Science and International Studies. Prior to attending law school, Margaret worked as a litigation assistant. This summer, she is interning with the U.S. Department of Transportation in the Office of Inspector General, Office of Chief Counsel.

Riley Fritz is a second-year law student from Iowa. She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a B.A. in Philosophy, with a concentration in Law, Ethics, and Society. Prior to attending law school, she worked at a political marketing firm for two years, where she worked on a range of statewide races. This summer she will be a legal intern at a political firm with their in-house legal team.

Gabriella Hensinger is a second-year day student from Delaware County, Pennsylvania. She graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Global Affairs and a B.A. in Conflict Analysis & Resolution with concentrations in Human Security and Global Engagement. Previously, Gabriella held internships on Capitol Hill, at the Department of State, and at the National Security Institute.

McCall Holland is a second-year law student from the coast of North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Peace, War, and Defense and a B.A. in History with concentrations in International Security and Intelligence, and Global History. She also minored in Conflict Management. Previously, McCall has worked with the Triangle Institute for Security Studies, on Capitol Hill, and with the Department of Justice.

Nikolai Karavodin is a second-year day student at Scalia Law. Originally from Glendale, California, Nikolai studied Social and Behavioral Sciences before transferring to U.C. Berkeley, where he earned his B.A. in History. His studies focused on the history of American foreign relations. Before graduating, Nikolai served as an intern to the Irish Minister of State for the Diaspora and International Development. Nikolai was a summer extern at Wharton, Levin, Ehrmantraut & Klein, P.A., and is currently externing with the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps. Nikolai plans to complete his J.D. concentration in national security law and policy.

Jonathon Mendoza is a Candidate Member of the National Security Law Journal. He is a second-year student, originally from Apex, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a B.A. in Political Science. Jonathon is also a student member of the National Hispanic Bar Associations. Last summer, he worked as an in Intern for Aspida Financial Services, LLC.

Alec Menzies is a second-year, full-time student at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School and a Candidate Member for the National Security Law Journal. Before law school, he graduated from the University of Colorado with his M.A. in Political Science and B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy. Alec also serves as the Secretary for the Mason Intelligence and National Security Law Association. He has previously interned in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.

Amanda Nhek is a second-year law student from Northern Virginia. She graduated summa cum laude from the Patricia and Douglas Perry Honors College at Old Dominion University in 2021 with a B.S. in Health and Physical Education. She is currently a judicial intern for the Honorable Brett A. Kassabian in the Fairfax County Circuit Court.

Marci Rizzo is a second-year student at Scalia Law School. She is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2020 with a B.S., majoring in Biology and minoring in Theology. Prior to attending law school, she was a Medical Technologist and Policy Analyst for the District of Columbia Department of Forensic Sciences.

Lizelle Saah is a 3E student at George Mason Law. Lizelle graduated with cum laude and honors from the University of Texas at Austin where she received a B.A. in Government with a minor in Business. She is also involved in BLSA, Intellectual Property Law Society, and Copyright Society. Her legal interests include soft intellectual property and data privacy law.

Zachary Schultz is a third-year evening student at Antonin Scalia Law School at George Mason University. Zachary graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in International Studies with a focus in Security and Intelligence and a minor in Russian. At Ohio State, Zachary was a member of the security and intelligence club. Since 2018, Zachary has worked as a project assistant and legal assistant at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP in Washington, DC.

Annah Seaford is a second-year day student. Originally from North Carolina, Annah graduated from Appalachian State University in 2021 with a B.A. in Political Science. Prior to attending law school, Annah worked as a legal secretary. This summer, she is interning with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.

Mary Stuart is a second-year JD candidate from King George, Virginia. Mary graduated from the University of Virginia in December of 2020 with a B.A. in English and Minor in the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Previously, Mary has had internships with McGuireWoods Consulting, Youngkin for Governor, and the law firm of Holtzman Vogel Josephiak Torchinsky LLC.

Derek Webber is a second-year law student originally from West Virginia. Derek has over five years of work experience in the intelligence community. Derek interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia in summer 2022 and will be interning with the Department of Defense in fall 2022. Derek has a B.A. in International Studies and Russian Studies from West Virginia University and a M.A. in International Security from the University of Arizona.
