The National Security Law Journal is pleased to announce its Editorial Board for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Annalise Eamons – Editor-in-Chief

Annalise Emons is a third-year law student from San Diego, California. Annalise graduated from George Mason University with a B.A. in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and minors in American Government and Sustainability Studies. During law school, Annalise participated in the National Security Institute’s Summer Program on Separation of Powers in Porto, Portugal, and interned in the Office of the Reporter of Decision in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Garrett L. Zahner – Executive Editor

Garrett L. Zahner is a third-year law student at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School. Garrett graduated summa cum laude from Towson University with two Bachelors of Science in Political Science and Economics.  His focus is in political and corporate law, as well as constitutional law aspects of national security. Previously, Garrett was employed by the Republican National Committee as the Coordinator of Special Projects for the Office of the Chief Counsel, the Maryland Republican Party as their Deputy Director, and the Republican Party of Pennsylvania as its Political Coordinator.

Ella Alliston – Senior Research Editor

Ella Alliston is a third-year law student from Arlington, Virginia. Ella graduated from George Mason University Honors College with a B.A. in Criminology with a concentration in Law and Society. Ella graduated with honors in her major for her work on Wrongful Convictions with the Criminology department. In the past, Ella has worked with the Department of State within the Department of OES as team lead of a project that reported to an interagency working group and multiple countries embassies to report on Human Rights and Environmental law. This past summer, Ella simultaneously worked as a Research Assistant with the Scalia Faculty to research the intersection between Criminal and Torts Law, as well as an intern for a firm that works on real estate law, small business contracts, and trusts and estates specializing in individuals who have died intestate.

Anna Grady – Research Editor

Anna Grady is third-year law student from Clarksville, Tennessee. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a B.A. in Political Science and Hispanic Studies. This summer, she interned at the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Arlington County.

 

Youssef Asaad – Research Editor

 

Youssef Asaad is a JD graduate of Antonin Scalia Law School (Class of 2025) with plans to pursue a career in the U.S. government. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics (2020) and a master’s in business and science with a concentration in data analytics (2022) from Rutgers University. During law school, Youssef gained legal experience with the U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Commerce, National Security Institute, and a commercial litigation firm. Before law school, he worked in supply chain and supplier quality at Johnson & Johnson. Youssef also serves Christ through his role as a Sunday School teacher in the Coptic Orthodox Church.

Livia Paschke – Senior Notes Editor

Livia Paschke is a third-year law student from Seattle, Washington. Livia graduated from Chapman University with a B.A. in Peace Studies and a B.A. in Philosophy. Over the summer, Livia worked as a law clerk at Bean, Kinney & Korman, P.C..

 

Tate Kaufman – Notes & Articles Editor

Tate Kaufman is a third-year law student at George Mason University. He hails from Calgary, Canada and developed his love for National Security through coursework in international criminal law, terrorism studies, nuclear proliferation, and space law at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He has worked on constitutional law issues relating to the separation of powers and data privacy as a Dave Kennedy Fellow at The Institute for Justice. He currently provides research assistance to both Professor Seán O’Connor’s Music Ecosystems Institute, and the Law and Liberty Center’s Voices for Freedom Project project. When not in school, he is usually training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, writing, or attending a local show (The Rhizome and Pie Shop are his favorite DC venues).

 

Nicholas Rosa – Senior Articles Editor

Nicholas Rosa, Ph.D. is a fourth-year evening student. He holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in chemistry and biology from Caltech and a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from Georgetown. By day, he is a patent agent at a firm in Alexandria focusing on patent preparation and prosecution. Previously, he worked at the US Food and Drug Administration in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
