Meet Our Members


Caelyn Palmer,Editor-in-Chief

Caelyn Palmer is a third-year law student at Antonin Scalia Law School and Editor in Chief of the National Security Law Journal. Caelyn graduated magna cum laude from Drexel University with a B.A. in International Area Studies, concentration in International Business and Economics. Caelyn holds a minor in Mandarin Chinese, and also studies Russian and Hebrew. Currently, Caelyn works at Exelon Corporation as a law clerk. Caelyn’s national security law interests include intelligence, cybersecurity, foreign investment, energy, and critical infrastructure protection.


Michael Vlcek,Executive Editor

Micheal Vlcek is a third-year law student at Antonin Scalia Law School and the Executive Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Jessica Alvarado, Managing Editor

Jessica Alvarado is a third-year evening student and the Managing Editor of the National Security Law Journal. Raised in Ashburn, Virginia, Jessica attended George Mason University and graduated with a BS in Criminology, Law, and Society with a Concentration in Law. She currently works as a Senior Paralegal for the Nature Conservancy’s Latin America & Caribbean Legal Team.

Quinn Kahsay is a third-year law student and the Senior Articles Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Zachary Boron, Senior Research Editor

Zachary Boron is a third-year law student and the Senior Research Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Patrick Patnode, Associate Articles Editor

Patrick Patnode is a third-year law student and an Associate Research Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Todd Mihill, Associate Research Editor

Mr. Mihill is an Associate Research Editor for the National Security Law Journal and a third year law student at GMU- Scalia Law. Mr. Mihill is also a Student-Advisor for the Mason Veterans and Servicemembers Legal Clinic, an intern with the U.S. Coast Guard, a member of Trial Advocacy, and a member of the Military Law Society. Mr. Mihill’s legal experience also includes a Judicial Clerkship with the 10thCircuit Court in Brentwood, New Hampshire and a year as an intern with the New Hampshire Bar Association Pro Bono program.

Mr. Mihill is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he continues to serve in a Reserve capacity. He spends his free time with his wife, Nikole and his son, Finley.

Katie Stegmuller is a third-year law student and an Associate Research Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Stephanie Brownley, Notes Editor

Stephanie Brownley is a third-year law student and a Notes Editor of the National Security Law Journal.


Chanel Urrutia, Notes Editor

Chanel Urrutia is a third-year law student and a Notes Editor for the National Security Law Journal. She is expected to graduate in May 2019. She attended Marymount University for her undergraduate degree. She is also currently the Vice President of the Securities Law Association and is an intern at the Department of Justice.


Robert Burke, Articles Selection Editor

Robert Burke is currently completing his 3L year at George Mason Law and working as a law clerk in the Commonwealth’s Attorney office for the City of Alexandria. He has an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia. He currently serves as the vice-president for the Military Law Society.


Corey Pray, Symposium Editor

Corey Pray is a second year law student at Antonin Scalia Law School and the Symposium Editor of the National Security Law Journal. Corey graduated from Boston University with a B.A. in Chemistry and Political Science. He is a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and will begin active duty service after graduating law school in May 2020. At Scalia Law, Corey is also active in Moot Court Board, Trial Advocacy Association, and The Federalist Society. Currently, Corey is working as a student law clerk to the General Counsel at the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. In his free time, Corey enjoys running, reading history, and cheering on Buffalo sports teams.


Frank Canavan , Communications Editor

Frank Canavan is a second-year law student and is a candidate member of the National Security Law Journal. He also serves as the Communications Editor for NSLJ. Further, Frank serves as the Communications Chair for Scalia Law’s Louis D. Brandeis Society. Frank graduated from the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State University in 2017 with degrees in History and International Politics (national security option). He hopes to pursue a career combining law and government relations in the fields of national security and energy.


Jameson Broggi, Candidate Member

Jameson C. Broggi is a 2020 J.D. Candidate at the Antonin Scalia Law School and candidate member on George Mason University’s National Security Law Journal.

Broggi is the Vice President of Speakers for the Scalia Law Chapter of the Federalist Society and an editor for the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy, 2018 Symposium Edition.

Previously, Broggi worked for two and a half years in the South Carolina Senate as the research assistant for the Committee on Transportation where he staffed Committee meetings and assisted the Chairman with legislation on the Senate floor.

Originally from Beaufort, South Carolina, Broggi is a 2014 graduate of the University of South Carolina, earning a B.A. in Political Science summa cum laude.


Dylan Campbell, Candidate Member

Dylan Campbell a 2L with an expected graduation date of May 2020. He is interested in Tax Law and graduated from the College of William & Mary in 2017 with a Bachelor’s in Government and Economics.


Haley Cook, Candidate Member

Haley Cook is a second year law student and a candidate member of the National Security Law Journal. She went to the University at Albany, SUNY, where she graduated with a BA in U.S. History and Sociology. Following her 1L year, Haley interned with CrowdStrike, a cutting edge, cloud computing cyber security company. Due to this internship, Haley sees using her law degree somewhere in the world of cyber security and privacy law.


Daniel Fronk, Candidate Member

is a second year law student and a Candidate Member of the National Security Law Journal.


Matthew Kren, Candidate Member

Matthew Kren is  currently a 2L, interested in homeland security and national security.  Along with being a candidate member on NSLJ, he is  a member of trial ad, George Mason Inn of Court and a RA for the NSI. In his 1L summer he interned for the TSA in the civil rights division. A little about Matthew, he is from Long Valley, NJ; for undergrad he got degrees in history and political science a the University of Connecticut; and he is an avid New York Giants and New York Yankees fan.


Erin McCullough, Candidate Member

Ms. Erin McCullough joins NSLJ with professional experience in international mineral resource supply chain and security analysis. Academically, Erin has bachelor and master’s degrees in mining engineering accompanied by certificates in engineering management and environmental politics. Prior to her career with  the Federal Government, Erin worked in various field and engineering consulting capacities within the mining industry. Erin passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and is in the process of obtaining professional engineering (PE) licensure. She enjoys using technical acumen to solve environmental social issues, and is interested in the intersection of national security and natural resource management.


Patrick Withrow, Candidate Member

Patrick Withrow is a 2L Day student expected to graduate in May 2020. He is interested in national security and criminal law.  He has a BA in History and Political Science from Guildford College in Greensboro North Carolina.  Before law school, he worked in the Republic of Moldova with the Peace Corps.
