To join the National Security Law Journal, Scalia Law 1D, 1E, 2D, 2E, and 3E students are invited to participate in the all-Journal Write-On Competition or the NLSJ’s Comment-On Process. After demonstrating a commitment to the Journal through spading and completing a publication-ready student note or comment, full membership may be extended.
Full members are eligible for publication and Editorial Board membership. Members also work with NSLJ’s Research Editors to verify authors’ sources and to ensure that all citations meet NSLJ’s formatting and content requirements.

Ariana Kim
Ariana Kim is a third-year law student and a native of Northern Virginia. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major B.A. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. During law school, Ariana has interned with the Fairfax County Circuit Court and the Armed Forces Benefit Association.

Emma Sameth
Emma Sameth is a third-year law student from Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from George Mason University in 2023 with a B.A. in Global Affairs and a minor in International Security. She currently interns at the U.S. Department of Defense.

Madeleine Logan
Madeleine Logan is a third-year law student from Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Saint Louis University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. Over the summer, she worked at Public Counsel’s Center for Veterans’ Advancement on discharge upgrades, VA benefits, and impact litigation.

John Donnell
John Donnell is a fourth-year evening student. He graduated from James Madison University with a B.A. in Justice Studies and Philosophy. He has spent the last 12 years working as a contractor with government IT systems.

Julia Donnelly
Julia Donnelly is a third-year law student from Long Island, NY. She graduated from Binghamton University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Human Rights. Julia also attended Trinity College Dublin, where she graduated with an LL.M in International & Comparative Law. This summer, she is interning with the Department of Justice.

Kate McKain
Kate McKain is a 3L from Seattle, Washington. She graduated from Gonzaga with a BA in international relations and political science, and a minor in psychology. This summer she is interning at the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office in their Capitol Siege Unit.

Mercedes McPhee
Mercedes McPhee is a third-year law student originally from San Diego, California. She graduated from George Washington University with a B.A. in International Affairs and Economics and a concentration in Security Policy. Prior to law school, Mercedes worked at the Commercial Spaceflight Federation, and she currently interns at SpaceX

Natalie Nachman
Natalie Nachman is a third-year law student and a native Washingtonian. She has degrees in History and Jewish Studies from Indiana University and a master’s in TESOL and linguistics from Tel Aviv University. Prior to attending law school, she was and adjunct at Columbia and New York Universities. She currently works at a small law firm in Arlington.

Camryn Runyan
Camryn Runyan is a third-year law student from Eastern Oklahoma. She graduated from Baylor University in 2022 with a B.A. in political science and journalism. She has served as a law clerk for the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget. This summer, she clerked for a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary.

Nathan Taube
Nathan Taube is a third-year law student originally from Arizona. He earned a B.A. in Psychology, M.B.A., and M.L.S. from the University of Arizona. He spent over 20 years as a federal special investigator and currently serves as Director of Legal & Compliance for a USG contractor supporting national security and defense.
