The video from our “Safe and Surveilled” event is now available online. This program, hosted by the National Security Law Journal at the Arlington Campus of George Mason University, featured a keynote address by former U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey followed by a spirited debate between Professor Robert Turner of the University of Virginia School of Law and Professor Stephen Vladeck of American University’s Washington College of Law. All three speakers commented on the NSA, wiretapping, and the legality of the data-mining program known as PRISM.
On November 6, 2013, we hosted Drone Wars: Challenges and Solutions, a panel discussion on a framework for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles under the law of armed conflict, featuring panelists from the Heritage Foundation, The New York Times, BBC News, and George Mason University School of Law.
Then on November 12, 2013, we hosted Blinking Red: Crisis and Compromise in American Intelligence After 9/11, a conversation with author Michael Allen on his new book, with a panel discussion featuring General Michael V. Hayden (Ret.) and Mr. Chuck Alsup.
